Walt Disney Studios

How did the studio come about?

Walt Disney is the name of the man who founded and created the Disney company. He and his brother Roy started in 1923 (the company has been going for 97 years from the time this has been written) as a very small company that was based in Los Angeles, that produced a series of short live action/animations (the first one being ALICE COMEDIES).

Their headquarters is based in Burbank, California, United States, but they have many different studios around the world including one in Tokyo.
Disney used to be owned by the Disney family but now it is owned by multiple corporations. in fact the company that owns the majority of the companies shares is Vanguard Group Inc, owning a total of 127 million shares.

                                                                         What companies do Disney own?

Disney owns many companies including: Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel, ESPN, ABC, Touchstone pictures and many more. this massively helps Disney due to their streaming platform (Disney +) will be able to include these platforms. Therefore bringing more subscribers to their platform, resulting in more profit for the company. Due to this they can make up all of the costs of buying the companies very quickly.
